Social distancing is a tool used by health officials around the world to slow the spread of any virus from person to person. The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention describes social distancing as exclusion from gatherings and maintaining a distance of 6 feet from other people. Across the country, public places like theatres, malls, offices, schools, colleges are closed to help stop the spread of the virus. Even public transport like trains and metros have been closed to control the spread of coronavirus.
Regarding coronavirus, any physical contact is the most common way a person will catch Covid19. To keep this in effect, it is important to keep a minimum distance of six feet. The reason for keeping a distance of six feet is essential because the virus can remain suspended in the air till 6 feet and after that, it settles on the ground. That is why, it is important to maintain a distance with everyone and if anyone in your immediate family has a lot of coughs, then it is advisable to take them to the doctors.
If conducted correctly on a large scale, social distancing can help slow the transmission rate. The infected people can spread the virus for at least five days before any symptoms begin to appear. With social distancing, a contagious person limits the number of people any infected person comes into contact with and this potentially controls the spreads of the virus. As experts suggest, a vaccine is 12 to 18 months away and thus, it is the responsibility of every person to follow the guidelines of WHO and other health agencies in the country to control the spread of coronavirus.
We cannot stress the importance of the matter enough but social distancing is the need of the hour not just in the country but everywhere around the world. We request everyone to understand the need for social distancing and respect the authorities who are tirelessly working towards combatting this deadly pandemic. We request everyone to stay at home and stay safe.
Together, we can combat and defeat Coronavirus and reclaim our lives.
