6 Clever Tips to Clean Your Homes During Summer

Cleaning your home during the summer can be a daunting task. Between the vacation schedules and kids being home, it’s not only hard to savour the season but it’s hard to manage the day-to-day chaos and mess. So, how does one go about summer cleaning? Fret not, we have got you covered.
Here are 6 stress-free home cleaning tips for the summer, without you having to break any sweat.

Remove chair stains with alcohol

Spray the stain with rubbing alcohol and wipe it with a clean sponge. As alcohol evaporates quicker than water, it won’t leave a mark. If you’re worried about the fabric, then create a solution of one-part dishwashing liquid to two parts hydrogen peroxide. Spray, run in, let stand and wash.

Deodorize trash with baking soda

Festering trash is a common thing people deal with in the summer. Sprinkling baking soda at the bottom of a trash can will keep bad odour at bay. If you’re using a trash bag, wad up old newspaper and put it in the bottom of the bag – this will absorb the odour and keep the bag from leaking discarded liquid products.

Clean your blinds with a sock

With more sunlight in the summer, your blinds will accumulate more dust. To avoid this, mix equal parts of water and vinegar in a bowl. Then grab a pair of old socks and put them over your hands – use one hand to dip it in the cleaning mixture and the other hand to wipe away the dampness.

Keep the bathroom fresh with essential oils

A bathroom with bad odour can be quite discomforting, especially for guests who come to your home. This is a problem, especially during summers as bathrooms can be quite messy. Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil to the core of the toilet paper-- every time you use the roll, the fragrance will be released.

Get rid of water rings with a blow dryer

If you have a table filled with water rings, then hold a blow dryer on high close to the ring until it disappears. You can dab a little olive oil on the area to recondition the wood if necessary.

Clean your microwave with a lemon

Cleaning a microwave can be quite difficult, especially when it has age-old stains that are hard to get rid of. Slice a lemon into a bowl of water and put it in the microwave on high for 3 minutes. Let it sit in the microwave for another 3 minutes then simply wipe the inside of the microwave clean with paper towels.
